How long will fiberglass pipe last?

Fiberglass reinforced thermosets (“FRPs”) are used in many industrial product applications, including the storage and transfer of corrosive substances, or the handling of other substances in corrosive environments. Although FRP pipe is 65 years old, it is considered a modern production material with many new applications that take advantage of its corrosion resistance, strength-to-weight ratio, low maintenance and life cycle costs.

The useful life is usually high, in the range of 50 years. Therefore, the total lifetime cost of FRP pipe becomes cheaper compared to metal pipe.
